짧은 이야기
Don’t miss the chance to leave your mark on history and become a part of Croatia’s future – join the large campaign and help us launch the first Croatian satellite to space!
Spacemanic and Society for education outside the box have launched a project to create, program, and launch the first nanosatellite into orbit powered by Croatian know-how and advanced technologies. The mission requires 120,000 euros for successful completion, along with a lot of knowledge, goodwill, and collective contribution. It’s an exciting endeavor that relies on a combination of expertise, dedication, and collaboration to achieve its goals.
The nanosatellite’s cube shape also matches the Croatian most recognizable national symbol – the Croatian checkerboard, comprising 25 red and white squares. It is with great pride that we thus call this mission CroCube – the first Croatian cube in space.
The expected launch of the satellite is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, and it will take place on a Falcon 9 rocket by SpaceX as part of the Transporter 10 mission. It’s exciting to anticipate this upcoming milestone in space exploration.
UPDATE #1: Launching in Q1 2024!
(March, 2023) Securing almost half of the required campaign funds is a significant milestone, especially in covering the necessary deposit for reserving a spot on the SpaceX rocket. Planning ahead and reserving the launch date for February 2024 shows excellent foresight by the mission leaders. The countdown to the historic launch of the first Croatian ‘cube’ into space has begun!
UPDATE #2: Reduced campaign target amount!
(May, 2023) After the launch of the crowdfunding campaign, we attracted a lot of new sponsors whose gifts directly help us in the development of components for the satellite (read about it in the news on our website, crocube.hr). That’s why we lowered the target amount of the campaign to €120,000 (the previous amount was €130,000).
UPDATE #3: AstroTron 1000: Croatian module in the satellite!
The successful Croatian company Pulsar Laboratories is developing a module for CroCube!
The AstroTron is a triple-microcontroller, triple-sensor system designed to revolutionize low-cost electronics in space. With redundancy and autonomous operation.
AstroTron aims to become a reliable, cost-effective, and easy-to-use platform for cubesats that supports a variety of experiments. Its three boards offer sensors, microcontrollers with arbitration, and I2C connectivity with intelligent bypass capabilities.
UPDATE #4: The satellite dream has become a reality!
(November, 2023) Model and 3D visualizations are no longer the most “tangible” part of the mission! The CroCube is built and assembled, and the names of all donors, who supported the mission until November 8, 2023, are on the SD card in the satellite and are waiting for launch!
스토리
Mission goals and benefits: sending Croatia into the space age!
The CroCube mission is the start of the Croatian space age. Its goal is to facilitate the technological development of Croatia, and create an advanced society focused on prosperity and innovation.
We aim to increase interest in astronomy and space projects while empowering STEM and high-tech entrepreneurship.
We aim to create a platform for founding the first space center in Croatia, lay the foundations for developing the space sector, and enable a better future for our children – the new generations of scientists, engineers, and space explorers.
By increasing investments and employment in robotics, space technologies, and the IT industry, we will reduce unemployment, prevent brain drain, and facilitate the opening of new study programs focused on space tech.
We will promote Croatia as a land of innovation and increase its global visibility in the space sector.

Meet the CroCube nanosatellite and its mission
CroCube is a small cube-shaped satellite. Following industry standard, its size is 10x10x10 cm, and is typically called a CubeSat because of its recognizable shape.
CubeSats are standardized satellites that can be personalized and adapted by assembling modular units. They are developed by assembling finished market-available components, which significantly reduces their price and production time when compared to traditional satellites.
CroCube is a 1U CubeSat (1U = 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm), total weight circa 1.1 kg.
The CroCube satellite contains the following subsystems:
● Aluminum structure
● Computer
● Power Supply
● Orientation and stabilization systems
● Camera
● AstroTron 1000
● Communications system
CroCube will be equipped with a camera and a radio transmitter. His mission is to photograph the surface of the Earth from a height of 510 km, and he will have the opportunity to photograph Croatia six times a day for approximately 12 minutes.
For the duration of CroCube’s mission, all interested citizens will be able to visit the mission’s official website to follow the satellite’s status and position, as well as take a #Croselfie or catch its radio signal while it’s flying over Croatia.
CroCube also has an integrated memory card, which will contain all boarding passes, i.e., the names and surnames of donors, interested citizens (who supported the mission before the integration of the satellite on November 10, 2023), and a special plaque with the names of the biggest sponsors engraved.

An inspirational mission with no harm to Earth
The CroCube satellite will not have any harmful impact on the environment or on Earth research. It is a small satellite that does not reflect sunlight, which means that it does not block astronomical observations from the planet.
Furthermore, CroCube will be located in Low Earth Orbit. This means that when it runs its course, it will be pulled down by Earth’s gravity and completely burn up in the atmosphere without leaving any shards or space debris that may hinder future space research, impact the work of other satellites, or present any kind of danger for future launch operations.

Gifts for our donors
Be the star of our CroCube mission and enable the realization of the project with a cash payment, and we will reward each donation with promotional materials.

Who are we?
The CroCube mission is run by a crew of innovators, programmers, IT experts, radio amateurs and space enthusiasts who have previously completed (and will continue running) successful missions in collaboration with space agencies and leading space giants like SpaceX and the ESA.
Society for Education Outside the Framework (EVO Society) The mission of the Society for Education Outside the Box is the education of all age groups in the field of critical thinking and the promotion of freedom of thought, opinion, and expression. The members of the society are gathered around the common experience of working in scientific research and education among young people, who, while striving for their own professional excellence, also nurture responsibility towards the community by working voluntarily to overcome existing social challenges.
The EVO Company intends to create a network of experts in Croatia and abroad interested in actively opposing existing negative trends in society, especially education, through the synergy of existing projects and the development of new ones. The projects that the EVO Society is currently working on are aimed at improving scientific literacy, communication, and culture.
Spacemanic
Spacemanic is a turnkey nanosatellite mission provider and CubeSat component manufacturer, with registered seats in Bratislava (Slovakia) and Brno (Czech Republic), and focused on delivering reliable and innovative Cubesat solutions, platforms, components, and services.
The company has significant experience in space technologies and is capable of developing, constructing, and operating nanosatellite missions. The portfolio speaks for itself: the “skCube” mission (the first Slovak satellite in space), the “GRBAlpha” satellite for measuring gamma radiation, the “VZLUSAT-2” multi-functional Czech nanosatellite, “BDSat” for radio amateurs, and the advanced “Planetum-1” CubeSat for training future rocket scientists and engineers.
“As the leader of the project to launch the first Slovak satellite, I can see the sense behind it and the benefits it had for Slovakia. The mission sparked a collaboration between Slovakia and the European Space Agency, facilitated the opening of new study programs at the Slovak technical universities, and the project propelled the founding of the Slovak space industry ecosystem. It also placed Slovakia on the map alongside developed countries with space programs and with their own knowledge and resources for launching satellites into orbit. I want to use our experience and skills to help other European countries, and in doing so, strengthen Europe’s position and competitiveness in the new age of space flights and space services.” – Jakub Kapuš, CEO, Spacemanic
In addition to nanosatellite platforms, Spacemanic also provides expertise in radio communication and operations and operates several Earth-based radio stations for satellite communication.연락처
