Help us represent Croatia globally at the World Disc Golf Team Championships!

We are the Croatian disc golf team and are thrilled to announce that we have qualified for the World Team Disc Golf Team Championships in Perth, Australia, from November 6th to 9th, 2024! This prestigious event is an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our skills, passion, and dedication to the sport we love. However, we need your help to make this dream a reality.

Who are we?

The Croatian Flying Disc Federation (HFDS) is a non-profit sports organization whose goal is to spread, strengthen, and monitor the development of disc sports in the Republic of Croatia, with an emphasis on fair play, non-violent problem-solving, and mutual respect.

HFDS was founded in 2013. and unites clubs that play discus sports (better known in our country as frisbee). The most popular sports are disc golf and ultimate frisbee. The Croatian Flying Disc Federation is a member of the World Flying Disc Federation, which has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2015, and 84 federations from all continents participate in its work. Due to our efforts, HFDS was admitted to temporary membership in the HOO as the national association of non-Olympic sports. The decision was made unanimously.

History of Team Championships

Team Croatia participated in ALL Team Disc Golf Championships organized by the World Flying Disc Golf Association. Here are the competitions:

• World Team Disc Golf Championships 2017., Colchester, UK, 10th place
• World Team Disc Golf Championships 2019., Alutaguse, Estonia, 15th place
• European Team Disc Golf Championships by WFDF, 2021., Varaždin, Croatia, 3rd place!!!
• World Team Disc Golf Championships 2022., Varaždin, Croatia, 14th place
• World Team Disc Golf Championships 2024., Perth, Australia—to be seen hopefully 😊

We need to emphasize that players financed all these events from their own pockets. Of course, there are a lot more events each player participates in during the year; on average, one player plays 20–30 tournaments per year, which is a big toll on one’s budget since the tournaments are mostly international.

Since we are not sure if we can handle the expenses for the Australia trip on our own, we decided to start a crowdfunding campaign and hope our friends and supporters will recognize our passion and commitment to growing the sport and taking it to another level here in Croatia.

Participating in such prestigious events, as the World Team Disc Golf Championships is pushing us further as players, organizers, and ambassadors of the sport we love.

Here is detailed information about each player:

1/9 Aleksandar Aki Vucković, #62431

Aki won two Croatian championships and the first edition of the Croatian national league: member and former president of the most successful DG club in Croatia, Disc Golf Club Varaždin. Acting as a Croatian Country Coordinator, he is constantly involved in developing Croatian disc golf on many fields, including designing our “must have ” national shirts. He is known for his forehand shots on backhand lines 😃 and putting, especially from C2. He is looking forward to the WTDGC2024, as the match-play format is his favorite.

2/9 Aleksandar Bato Sudžuković #81081

Bato has been playing disc golf for almost 10 years now, and during that time he managed to play more than 183 PDGA-sanctioned tournaments, securing 11 PDGA wins. Bato’s biggest achievement so far is winning the Discover Balkan Disc Golf Tour 2024 in the MP40 division. Bato’s biggest advantage on the course is his short game, which is always on point for attacking the basket. He has an aggressive approach to the game, and when his putter is hot, he is a dangerous competitor who goes for all or nothing. He is one of the players who increased their skill level significantly throughout the years, and we do not doubt that Bato will keep pushing his game and his competitors forward.

3/9 Danica Pajtak #62432

Danica was never in sports, but then in her late 20s, she discovered disc golf, and that was a game changer. Today, she has more than 191 PDGA-sanctioned tournaments under her belt and three titles as Croatian FPO Champion. Also, she won the Croatian national disc golf league three years in a row. With 61 career wins, Danica is the most-awarded Croatian-born disc golf player. Outside of the course, she is committed to supporting women’s equality and inclusion as a Croatian Flying Disc Federation board member.

4/9 Dinko Šimenc, #52313

While Dinko Šimenc is not technically the founder of disc golf in Croatia, he and his sister Maja have been pivotal in building the foundation of modern disc golf in the country. Since becoming involved in the sport in 2011, Dinko has made immeasurable contributions through course design, organizing over 110 PDGA tournaments, and fostering the growth of the disc golf community in Croatia. Dinko earned the title of Croatian National Disc Golf Champion twice, in 2013 and 2019, in the Open division. Additionally, he has consistently performed well, finishing in 2nd or 3rd place five more times. Dinko has competed in disc golf tournaments in more than 15 countries, establishing strong connections with disc golfers worldwide. He was also the tournament director for the World Team Disc Golf Championship 2022, held in his hometown of Varaždin. Beyond disc golf, Dinko has interests in yoga, trivia, and punk rock music.

5/9 Ira Molnar Gorički #69639

Ira Molnar Gorički began her flying disc journey in 2012, when she started training in Ultimate. By 2014, she had expanded her athletic pursuits to include disc golf. Until 2015/2016, she trained in both sports simultaneously. After the birth of her child, Kaja, Ira focused solely on disc golf, which she continues to play to this day. In 2020 and 2021, Ira won the Croatian Disc Golf League, showcasing her growing prowess in disc golf. Her success continued in 2023, when she finally clinched the Croatian Championship. Since 2017, she has been a regular competitor at the World Team Disc Golf Championships, participating in events held in England, Estonia, and Croatia.

6/9 Mario Mesarić #81111

Mario is dedicated to training and practicing on and off the course. His perseverance is visible on the course and in his tournament play. Just to mention that he played 1051-rated rounds on the first day of the Merry Forester Series, which is one of the highest-rated rounds thrown by a Croatian player ever. Also, Mario is one of the highest-rated MPO players in Croatia and the winner of the 9th Croatian DG Championships 2021, and actually, he is MP40.

7/9 Tina Šimenc, #138383

Tina Šimenc discovered disc golf in 2020 when she met Dinko, her future husband. Despite not having competed in any other sports previously, she quickly took to disc golf, appreciating the community and its unique vibes. Her skills improved rapidly, and after just four years, her PDGA rating has risen to 828. Tina has competed in 73 events across seven countries, with her best finish being 2nd place in the FPO division at the Croatian Nationals in 2023. Additionally, she has won several smaller events, showcasing her growing talent and dedication to the sport. In addition to playing, Tina is heavily involved in the organization of multiple events run by Lagoda Disc Golf. She played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the World Team Disc Golf Championship 2022.

8/9 Tomislav Gorički #69640

Tomislav Gorički began playing Ultimate in 2011, joining the FDK Zagreb club. In 2014, he trained in both ultimate and disc golf simultaneously for several years. His dedication to both sports led to significant achievements. Tomislav won the Croatian Disc Golf Championship two years in a row, in 2017 and 2018. He has been a consistent participant in the Central European Disc Golf Championships (CEDGC) since their inception, achieving his greatest success in 2023 by securing 3rd place in the MP40 category in Austria. Additionally, he has been a regular competitor in the World Team Disc Golf Championships, attending every event. Furthermore, Tomislav has won the Croatian disc golf league three times in a row, demonstrating his ongoing skill and commitment to the sport.

9/9 Vjeran Tuhtan #98001

Vjeran Tuhtan has been playing disc golf since 2017 and has participated in over 70 PDGA tournaments in Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Serbia, and Italy. He has achieved five victories in the “open” category, with his greatest success being the victory at the Croatian Championship in 2023 and defending the title in 2024! As a member of the national team, he competed in the World Team Championships in 2022 in Varaždin and the Central European Championships in St. Polten, Austria, in 2023. Vjeran currently serves as the Vice President of the Croatian Disc Golf Association, responsible for disc golf in his second term, and is the founder and president of the Rijeka Disc Golf Club Eagle. Professionally, he is a graduate engineer in computer science, and in his free time outside the disc golf course, he enjoys spending time with his family and his two sons.
