Let us raise 11 statues of St. Michael for the protection of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Through a joint initiative of lay people and consecrated persons from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other countries, we aim to fund the creation and installation of 11 marble statues of St. Michael the Archangel in cities and parishes across Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. These statues are a sign of public consecration to God and a symbol of spiritual protection for our people!

Project description

In the spirit of the Jubilee Year 2025 of the Catholic Church and as part of the celebration of 1100 years of Croatian statehood and church assemblies in Split, we are launching an initiative to build 11 monumental statues of St. Michael the Archangel throughout Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This initiative arises from the cooperation of the Glas Koncila and the civic movement of Mary’s warriors (Wojownicy Maryi Split), with the support of the faithful laymen, priests, and church communities. St. Michael, the leader of the heavenly army and the patron saint of the Church, will be a permanent sign of the protection of our homes, families, and our nation in a time of increasing spiritual challenges.

Why the statues?

In the Bible, monuments are often erected as a visible sign of the covenant with God. Today, more than ever, it is necessary to reaffirm our belonging to Christ and his victory over evil. Each of the 11 statues will be a powerful symbol of resistance to sin, an encouragement to conversion and prayer, and a sign of God’s presence in concrete communities.

• Height: 3 meters (we have purposely rounded up the years of Christ—11 statues x 3 meters = 33)
• Weight: 4 tons
• Material type: marble
• A special feature: on the shield held by St. Michael there is an engraved ancient Croatian wattle

The goal of the campaign

We want to raise funds for the construction and installation of the remaining 7 statues. Each statue requires the costs of materials, artistic craftsmanship, transport, and installation, which are estimated at around EUR 20,000.00 per statue.

In total, we want to raise: 230 000 EUR

Who is behind the project?
