Σύντομη ιστορία
Many young people feel confused when they start their careers because they lack opportunities and mentorship. At the same time, employers lack time and other resources to prepare young people for a career.
This lack of connection between education and the market causes a lot of stress on all sides.
This is precisely why about more than fifty of us have already started collecting messages for our “younger selves” through the Mission Possible initiative. We want to help intergenerational synergy for digital transformation and look for solutions instead of worrying about problems. We also believe that young people need PAID opportunities and that is the purpose of this campaign.
If you want to help us help as many young people as possible through our stories and advice, support the next phase of the project.
In partnership with young people, we create a multimedia and print version of the handbook “What you ACTUALLY need to know for your first job” adapted to their language, understanding and needs.
Chose your reward and invest in Mission Possible to support , support and share information about it on social networks and live!
Mission Possible is an attempt to crowdsource for a collaborative project promoting intergenerational synergies in digital transformation, benefitting both young people (primarily women) at the beginning of their careers and their future employers. The practical aspect of the project is the transfer of knowledge and experience through “messages to younger selves” aimed at developing the soft skills of young people that are not learned in formal education.
Let’s create a multimedia book “What you ACTUALLY need to know for your first job” WITH young people!
Ιστορία
How YOU can support young people smoothly transition from education to career?
Having in mind the gender differences, social norms and obstacles disproportionately affecting young women entering the job market, this initiative offers opportunities for young women to develop soft skills, which are essential for their future economic independence. This program isn’t just about designing and printing a book – it’s about building a career, realizing potential, and creating a better future.
Through storytelling, and opportunities for online mentoring, the program advocates for the intergenerational synergies in digital transformation. By developing “soft skills” such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability, participants will gain the confidence and competence they need to succeed in the job market.
By investing in this program, donors will be supporting the development of a new generation of professionals who are equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the workplace.
How we plan to do it?
The program will be inclusive and accessible, with a focus on reaching young people (primarily women) from different socioeconomic backgrounds, gender, capacities, and locations outside of urban centers, accommodating those with disabilities. Finally, donors will be regularly updated about the effective and efficient use of their investment.
Process:
The first phase will consist of selecting the core team to produce the multimedia book. All participants will contact their selected role models to record Zoom interviews with their messages to their younger selves. Additionally, already available content will be adapted and transcribed for publication. One part of the participants will develop illustrations, visuals, and promotional materials, to make sure the multimedia contents reach the widest possible audience.
The second phase will include the production of the print book and the virtual placement of multimedia materials.
The final phase includes the online promotion and physical distribution of the print book.
Pending the donors’ interest and support, the project will enable access to an online platform where young people will display their achievements, and presentations of progress will allow for measuring impact and ensuring that the mentoring program remains up-to-date and relevant. Periodic updates and newsletters will inform donors and partners about the available young candidates, their strengths, and ideal tasks, facilitating that way the market fit, intergenerational synergies, and social impact.
Costs:
Based on the current market assessment, the calculation of costs includes: hours of work of virtual assistants that will be actively collecting material, recording interviews, designing multimedia materials and translating the contents. The production costs will depend on the economy of scale for printing, and the minimum viable number of print copies will be 500 of books. The second phase (online promotion and physical distribution) is projected to include additional hours of service, shipping and transport costs, as well as the administrative costs, communication and coordination.
Why would anybody support such a project?
The book, multimedia content, and online platform supported through this campaign will develop the soft skills and competencies that young professionals need to succeed in the job market and make a positive impact on their communities. Finally, through sharing “messages to younger selves”, over 50 experienced professionals have already expressed their support for the overall philosophy of the Mission Possible initiative: looking for solutions, instead of worrying about problems.
NOTE: The minimum viable number of print copies is 500. In case the campaign would not indicate interest in the print copy, only the eBook version will be produced.

Why are we crowdfunding?
Young people, specifically women, face numerous challenges when transitioning from formal education to the workforce. Limited job opportunities outside of big urban centers, and a lack of relevant work experience are just a few of the obstacles that young women encounter after finishing formal education. The situation is even more challenging for young women with disabilities, young mothers, or in professions that are easily replaced by AI. To address these challenges, the initiative Mission Possible is collecting a practical guidebook grounded in inter-generational synergies, to empower young women entering the job market.
Why “soft skills”?
Soft skills are crucial for success in today’s job market, and employers across the EU place a high value on these competencies.
Research conducted over 100 years ago by Harvard University, the Carnegie Foundation and Stanford Research Center has all concluded that 85% of job success comes from having well‐developed soft and people skills, and only 15% of job success comes from technical skills and knowledge (hard skills). In another study by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) The State of the Industry Report (Green and McGill, 2011), U.S. employers spent $171.5 billion on employee learning and development in 2010, and 27.6% of those training dollars went to soft skills training.
According to a 2019 report from LinkedIn, 91% of talent professionals say soft skills are very important to the future of recruiting and HR. The same report concluded that 89% say bad hires typically lack soft skills and 57% of companies struggle to assess soft skills accurately.
Out of 100 young people in Croatia, 15 of them are no longer in education and are still not working. The employment rate of graduates and their first salaries are lower than average in the EU, with better chances awaiting STEM graduates. The employment rate of recent HE graduates (77.2% in 2020, below EU 83.7%) decreased by 1.9 pps in the last year (Eurostat). A pilot survey of graduates’ study and employment experiences in 7 EU countries and Norway shows that Croatia has the second-highest youth unemployment rate (23.8%) (European Commission, 2020).

Aga Ploska –
Mission Possible is the missing link between “no experience” and “expectation to have experience”. My wish to all is to apply the methodology in their countries and help youth smoothly go from “theory” to practice. Good luck Nela!
Veronika Balson –
When I was getting my first job I had no idea what I want to do or where are my strengths and weaknesses. I would very much appreciate guidance in the form of wisdom from others or practical tips on how to get a smooth blend into the world of adulthood and business. Even now at the age of 34 years, I believe I still have a lot to learn. That is why I believe that such projects are valuable.
DobrilaM –
The mission possible is not only a platform to support young people – to know that they have someone from whom they can and should learn and to continue learning – but also a platform for us, with experience to empower us to share knowledge and experience, pass it on and so on we multiply. That is why it is extremely important, and an added value, that it allows us to develop, learn and practice investing in the future as individuals.
Only if we engage in philanthropy, from this personal level and behave socially responsibly as individuals, can we expect, even demand the same from organizations, especially corporations.
In the end, jobs are being transformed so quickly, that it is not at all excluded that we older people will soon need lessons for a future labor market. No matter how we look at it, we are also investing in our future when we invest in young people, so I believe that the decision to support the Mission possible is a wise investment.
